A day in the life...

Max has been running circles around me all summer and teaching his buddy Owen how to be a big boy. Today we'll head to Goose Lake on my bike to see what kind of critters we can net out of the water for next weeks posting. We built a wagon and Max tried to see what life would be like to live inside a butterfly cage.

Max's rescue bunnies

We rescued 3 baby bunnies from Animal Control and are now taking care of them until they are old enough to be adopted. Max named his Thumper and the other two are Shadow and Smokey. They are only about 4 weeks old and still drinking milk having been weaned too early from mom. Max is so gentle and tells them that everything will be ok...

Max's science project

Grandpa Manley sent Max a butterfly kit for his 4th birthday and it was a raving success. From a caterpillar to a chrysalis to a butterfly in just 3 weeks, we plan to release them on the next sunny day.

Summertime Fun

Preschool Graduate

Max graduated with honors from his first year of preschool. The kids put on quite a show complete with singing, dancing and beating a pinata into smithereens before leaping into a pile to fight over all the candy. I have to say that I had a tear in my eye when he had to say goodbye to all of his new friends for the whole summer. We'll be back in the fall though, I can't wait!

Ride On!

Summer is here and Max was excited to test out his first two-wheeler. We got it at a garage sale for only $10 so we splurged on the horn and pinwheel. He's a bit frustrated that he doesn't go as fast as a hero, but I told him that even heros started out slow and they needed a lot of practice to go super fast.
